To promote a quality of life that maximises potential, choice and independence for people with brain injury, their families/whanau and carers.
Learn about our services
-
We advocate with, or on behalf of any individual with a brain injury. We provide support as they navigate health providers, external agencies, family members, friends, whanau and the wider community.
We assist people as they make connections with the community, and the various services they need to enable good lives.
-
We provide a wide range of resources as they relate to different aspects of brain injury. From fatigue and anxiety, through to relationships and coping strategies.
We provide education for not only those affected by brain injury, but their whanau, caregivers and the wider public. That includes programs designed to provide education to schools, community groups and workplaces.
-
We provide confidential one-on-one support as well as facilitating regular social groups across Nelson, Tasman and West Coast. We organise and fund a range of activities to reduce isolation and improve quality of life.
Testimonials
“I cannot express the depth of my gratitude to Emma and Eileen and everyone involved with BIA Nelson.
This service is so necessary and is supporting me to a better functioning place, and has supported my child, who is the teenage caregiver of an adult with a brain injury. ”
“We greatly appreciate the support we have had from Brain Injury Top of The South. For several years now, they have provided us with information (and the strength) to navigate through health and government agencies.
In more recent times, they have welcomed my husband into their monthly West Coast meetings. We have seen an improved optimism and self-awareness in him because of this contact and support.”
“The Top of the South Brain Injury Association has provided invaluable support through practical strategies and tools that help me manage daily life more effectively. Their support groups have given me the opportunity to connect with others, reducing isolation and helping me socialise in a safe, understanding environment.
They’ve organised numerous appointments and meetings, where they advocate on my behalf, ensuring my needs are clearly represented. This ongoing support has made a significant difference, enhancing both my confidence and my quality of life.”
